Pewter Striking measures 1 1/8" w. X 1" h.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT "UNIQUE" MEANS? FOR THE RECORD--IT MEANS ONE OF A KIND OR THE ONLY ONE KNOWN ! THAT'S WHAT THIS IS ! I bought this back around 1960 when I was in the rare coins business and I was known as The Chestnut Hill Money Shop. It has been in my collection of miscellaneous or eclectic items ever since. This is the first time I have offered it for sale.

This is known as a "trial striking" of the WWII "ruptured duck" lapel pin that the veteran's wore. The purpose of this striking was to test the "dies" that were going to be used to strike the lapel pins. So, a piece of pewter was selected because pewter was soft and would not harm the dies in the test. There was no concern for the finished shape because the only concern was to see what the finished product was going to look like. It is highly unlikely that another one like this even exists because the usual procedure was to remelt metals or sell all metal scraps to a junk yard. This is your chance to own a TRULY RARE WORLD WAR II ITEM ! Price $ 250.00 Dirt cheap ! YOU WILL NEVER SEE ANOTHER ONE !
