All of these Indian photos (except for the woman w/plains Indians and the cabinet card from Michigan) were taken of the Pueblo Indians by a photographer named Alonzo Compton (1867-1938) who opened "Compton Studios" in Albuquerque, N.M. after retiring as a state surveyer. He started out life by surveying the borders of N.M. in 1912 when it became a state. He photographed mostly Native American Indians and New Mexico Scenery. The "AC" designation is his initials. |
